Transport and storage of ion exchange resins

1. Ion exchange resin products contain a certain amount of equilibrium moisture, which should be maintained as much as possible during transportation and storage to prevent dehydration. The resin should be stored indoors at an ambient temperature of 5-40 ℃. Bagging should avoid direct sunlight, stay away from heating devices such as boilers, and avoid water loss. If dehydration occurs during the storage process of the resin, it should be soaked in about 10% salt water for 1-2 hours first, and then gradually diluted. The dehydrated resin cannot be directly put into water to prevent rapid expansion of the resin volume and breakage.
2. After the resin arrives at the user's unit, warehouse management personnel should first do a good job of classifying and placing the resin. Due to the fact that most users use resin of two or more brands and the total number of bags of resin is in the hundreds or thousands, it is necessary to strictly prevent the mixing of resins that may cause serious consequences.
3. When the ambient temperature is 0 ℃ or below, in order to prevent the internal moisture of the resin from freezing and expanding, insulation measures should be taken, or according to the temperature conditions, the resin should be stored in a corresponding concentration of NaCl solution to prevent freezing. If it is found that the resin has already frozen, it should be allowed to thaw slowly and naturally, and external force should not be used.

4. When ion exchange resins are stored for a long time or need to be stored in equipment for a long time, strong type resins should be converted to salt type, weak type resins can be converted to corresponding hydrogen type or free amine type, or also converted to salt type to maintain the stability of resin performance. Then soak in clean water.
5. The resin placed in the exchanger after long-term shutdown must be thoroughly backwashed before shutdown to prevent microbial contamination of the resin, in order to remove suspended substances accumulated during operation, and attention should be paid to regular flushing and water replacement.
6. The storage of catalyst resin should be more careful to prevent packaging damage and the loss of resin activity caused by various impurities.
7. When food and pharmaceutical resins need to be shut down midway due to special reasons during use, maintenance work should be done according to the length of the shutdown time. Due to the retention of a large amount of protein organic matter after the resin comes into contact with these media, prolonged shutdown can cause these substances to ferment and become odorous, making it difficult to remove these decaying substances and odors that penetrate the resin pores when the resin is put into operation again, Difficulty in meeting product discharge standards and affecting production. In general, within two days of shutdown, as long as the resin is regenerated for backup use; But for more than two days, it is recommended to perform the following method: thoroughly backwash the resin with pure water to remove the liquid in the resin, and then soak the resin in 7-10% salt water twice the volume of the resin for storage.
